Samsung lands £210m UK gov contract to arm emergency services with 4G mobes

according to THE UK'S EMERGENCY SERVICES going to recently be armed with, er, Samsung smartphones after the company landed a £210m contract to supply 250,000 handsets to police, paramedics and fire crews. The house Office awarded Samsung the three-year contract this week, that going to see the company supply toughened, water-resistant 4G devices to the emergency services. Samsung reportedly beat out versus elect bids from Motorola and Sepura, a English specialist in emergency services communications. The Samsung contract is fraction of the redevelopment of the ESN network costing £1.2bn, that going to see the replacement of the current Airwave system with a new system based on EE's mobile network. The current Airwave system going to be phased out in stages from 2020. µ

The house Office has selected Samsung as the supplier of smartphones which going to be used on a new emergency services network (ESN) across the UK. ESN is being deployed to replace the existing emergency services network, known as Airwave. The LTE smartphones have been specifically developed for the challenges faced with the police and the other emergency services. This means which it going to have a rugged design, involving water resistance, and have a range of features designed specifically for critical voice services. ESN going to bring a new dimension to emergency communication, thanks to its mobile broadband capabilities.

The contract is fraction of the ongoing £1.2bn growth of the Emergency Services Network (ESN), that replaces the Airwave radio network with a system based on EE's mobile network. The project, the premier of its kind in the world, is designed to let the emergency services to access the net in the field.
