It's now possible to make Samsung-powered contactless payments using a Samsung Gear S3 smartwatch, thanks to the enabling of Samsung Pay on the device. Samsung has finally launched its own mobile payments service on the new(-ish) Gear S3 smartwatch. With the Gear S3, you don't need to take out your wallet or phone to pull off the perfect summer meal. Samsung has today made it possible to use the Gear S3 smartwatch with Samsung Pay, the company's alternative contactless payment method to android Pay and Apple Pay, in the UK. Samsung hasn't said if and when it will make it possible to use Samsung Pay with the Gear S2 or Gear S2 Classic watches. To enable Samsung Pay on the Gear S3, follow these simple steps:Make sure your mobile device is compatible. With Samsung Pay enabled on a Gear S3, it can be used to make payments on all contactless payment terminals, including Oyster terminals across the London travel network. Samsung Pay is already available to use with select Galaxy smartphones, but this marks the first time it can be used with one of Samsung's smartwatches.

You can use Samsung Pay on your Gear S3 smartwatch from today in the UK. There's currently no word on a launch for Samsung Pay in the UK for the Gear S2 or the Gear S2 Classic watches despite it being available for both those devices in the US. To be able to use it on your Gear S3 you'll need to update to the most recent software version of Samsung Pay within the Gear App on your phone and make sure your card is registered and ready to go with Samsung Pay. Samsung Pay launched in the UK earlier this year for select Galaxy smartphones, but this will be the first time you can use it on the company's range of smartwatches. This is the first time you'll be able to use Samsung Pay without a Galaxy smartphone too as it works if the wearable is paired with any android device running 4.4 KitKat software or above.
